3 Killer Websites For Downloading Free Fonts

Free fonts. Everyone wants them, but not everyone has the time to go out and find them. So why is it important to find the perfect font? Just like the perfect pair of jeans, fonts can make a big impact. And let’s face it, when it comes to your brand you want to make the right font choice. I’ve cut through the noise and discovered the three best websites for downloading free fonts.

Most variety: DaFont

If there was a font all-you-can-eat smorgasbord this would be it. This website has an endless variety of fonts, but know what you’re looking for or you could be happily scrolling for days. What’s it best for? You’ll find yourself here for the one-offs, personal use, invitation fonts and themed fonts. This website makes searching for your font super easy too – trust me.

Best interface: BeFonts

Thought you’d never find a visually sexy interface? Well, I’ve found it. Befonts.com makes fonts look damn fine. And the best part? They show a mockup of the font so you can get a better understanding of what the finished product will look like. If you’re not visually savvy, this website is for you. It’s all about quality over quantity at Befonts.com and that suits me just fine.

For the font snob: Google Fonts

Font snob? Thought you were. This website is a favourite with graphic designers because of the filtering capability – it can sort by slant, thickness, width. So for those looking for web fonts, this is their go-to. They’re browser approved fonts which means a faster web speed when they’re in action. In fact, for this alone it makes sense that Fonts.google.com is extremely popular for commercial or business use. It’s my personal favourite in terms of font selection – modern, usable – and it’s incredibly easy to preview the text.

So hide that boring font. Now that you have your font websites covered, you’ll never have to settle for Veranda or Times New Roman again. You can thank the font gods for that!
